Chapter four
They lead me down a wide hallway to a set of beautifully ornate double doors that seem out of place in the modern hotel room. The wood doors are carved with trees and flowers and dancing nymphs. If Leander and Thorne werenât holding my hands, Iâd want to trace the design with my fingers and study each detail.
My men share a look I canât interpret before pushing open the doors, revealing a⦠forest. An honest to fuck, forest. Tall trees. Dirt under our feet. A gentle stream. Thereâs no ceiling, so it must be some kind of rooftop gardenâI have no idea how they got trees this massive to grow on a rooftop, but who cares. Itâs gorgeous.
It smells like thereâs a bonfire nearby. The leaves on the trees are all reds and oranges, bright and burning. The night is full of stars. And itâs warmer than it was when I got to the hotel this morning.
Wait. Whereâs the snow? âWhat is this?â
âWelcome, last flower of summer.â Leander bows and kisses the back of my left hand. When he raises his head, his ears are pointed, and his skin shimmers just a little, like heâs been brushed with stardust.
Iâm flabbergast and awed speechless. It has to be a hallucination. Maybe they drugged me with something. But it feels too real. I donât feel heavy or groggy. I feel alive. Alert in a way I donât remember ever feeling. Iâm as loony as Nana because Iâm pretty sure Iâm about to spend the night with two Fae princes!
Thorne gently tugs on my right hand, and I turn to look at him. His skin doesnât shimmer like Leanders. Rather than looking like starlight, it shines like a waxy leaf in early summer. He cups my cheek and kisses me until I forget how strange this is.
When we break apart for breath, he steps back. Leander takes his place with a kiss thatâs as smooth as water. Then they lead me by the hand into the trees.
Thereâs no path, but the foliage seems to part around us. The forest opens into a small clearing, where the trees donât venture and crackling leaves cover the ground in warm fall colors. A narrow river cuts through the right side of the clearing, filling the night with the soft sound of tinkling water. The smell of a bonfire is stronger here, though I donât see any sign of one.
In the middle of the clearing, thereâs a slanted white boulder covered in soft moss. When we reach it, they let go of my hand. Thorne stretches over the stone on his back, leaning on his elbows, giving me a perfect view of his magnificent body. Iâve never seen a man more confident, and itâs hot as hell. I didnât think it was possible to be more aroused than I already am, but my nipples get so hard theyâre sharp. Iâm dripping, clenching my thighs to chase the friction I want.
âHave you ever done this before?â Leander says from my side.
